Landscape Architects

There are 5 Landscape Architects covering 9 regions. They provide expert advice on all landscape matters relating to Registered historic parks and gardens within the regions including:

- Setting and achieving high standards in the repair and restoration of sites.
- Advising on managing change in historic parks and gardens.
- Advising on long-term conservation and survival of historic landscapes
- Promoting sensitive, appropriate and sustainable landscape design on historic sites.
- Project design and management.
- Raise awareness of historic parks and gardens and their conservation needs.

Their work also includes:
- Planning applications.
- Regional and local strategic planning and policies.
- Advice on grant schemes: Heritage Lottery Fund, Buildings at Risk Register, Countryside Stewardship, Forestry Commission etc.
- English Heritage grants for historic parks and gardens.
- Project briefs.
- Landscape research, survey and analysis.
- Conservation management plans and historic park and garden restoration plans.
- Monitoring and reporting on landscape works.
- Interpretation, education and training projects.
- Visitor access and management (including the Disability Discrimination Act).
- Preparation of landscape design schemes, specifications and contracts for English Heritage properties.
