English Heritage Strategy 2005-2010
Making the Past Part of Our Future, English Heritage’s Strategy for 2005 to 2010, outlines what the organisation will be doing to make a real difference to England’s historic environment and to address its most urgent needs.
English Heritage’s strategy for making the past part of our future is to create a cycle of understanding, valuing, caring and enjoying our historic environment. For each part of the cycle, specific strategic aims have been adopted, which are underpinned by a sixth aim, to make the most effective use of the assets in our care.

Implementing the Strategy
English Heritage is a national organisation with a strong regional structure. Making the Past Part of Our Future, English Heritage’s five year strategy for 2005 to 2010, is underpinned by nine Regional Plans, which set out how the Strategy will be implemented across England.
To download copies of the Regional Plans please click on the links at the bottom of this page. The plans are available in two formats: as PDFs and as screen reader compatible MS Word documents.
Hard copies of the Regional Plans can be requested from English Heritage Customer Services on 0870 333 1181 or by emailing customers@english-heritage.org.uk
The Regional Plans are supported by our grant priorities, which can be found on the grants pages.
