Produced for English Heritage by: The School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences, University of Newcastle upon Tyne, October 2003.

The purpose of this document is, in light of recent developments in metric survey, to provide information to clients and contractors on the use of terrestrial laser scanning in the survey of cultural heritage for English Heritage.

This user guide is intended to provide information on the recommended use of terrestrial laser scanners for the provision of point clouds for the use in architectural and archaeological applications. It is not intended to provide a beginners guide to laser scanning and assumes some previous knowledge about the technique. It should be used in conjunction with the Metric Survey Specification for English Heritage.
