Begun in about 3000 BC, the Sanctuary became a complex of timber post rings and stone circles. Its components are now indicated by concrete slabs. A place of great ritual significance, it was later linked to Avebury by West Kennet Avenue.

Part of the Avebury World Heritage Site.
