Geophysics Team
What we do:
Our team promotes the use of geophysical techniques as tools to assist in the discovery, understanding and curation of archaeology and buildings in England. We provide a comprehensive range of advice and undertake the practical application of geophysical survey and archaeomagnetic dating and analysis.
We are keen to develop methodology and practical applications, working with cutting edge science and transferring it into routine professional practice. We use our expertise to set standards which are used throughout the sector.
Please contact us for advice on:
- Any aspect of geophysical surveying, including the suitability of techniques, technical queries, project designs and specifications as well as the procurement of geophysical services.
- All aspects of archaeomagnetic dating.
- Section 42 licences to carry out a geophysical survey over Scheduled Monuments. (Note that licences are issued by the relevant Inspector of Ancient Monuments, to whom applications should be made, but we can advise on survey considerations and the correct regional contact within English Heritage).
