Corporate GIS
The Corporate GIS Team manages, supports and provides training for English Heritage’s GIS systems (webGIS and deskGIS) including project work associated with upgrading / developing these systems. The team is responsible for managing, licensing and updating the corporate GIS Database, which includes data supplied through the Pan Government Agreement. This role includes supplying non EH (e.g. OS and SeaZone) data for EH projects and providing guidance to all English Heritage(EH) staff on copyright issues. The team also takes the lead on promoting GIS and geographic information, developing GI standards and providing advice on the use of GIS and GI both internally and externally.
English Heritage has recently invested significant resource into our Corporate GIS systems and in 2007 English Heritage was awarded the Premier Award at the ESRI UK Excellence Awards. Read about the work we have done in the following papers focusing on the technical side of the implementation (presented at ESRI International User conference 2006), the business benefits (presented at AGI2006) and the use of OS data (Case study produced in conjunction with the OS).
