Restoration

Entrance to Inner Bailey, Beeston Castle, Cheshire Beeston Castle

The Development Fund is enabling a major project to take place at Beeston Castle in Cheshire.  The project aims to restore the landscape, provide a greater public understanding of the monument, prevent further damage to archaeology, and develop better access for visitors.  It will reverse decades of scrub growth and lack of grazing to restore the views to and from the castle, which were an important part of the site’s history.  Donations and bequests will also ensure the provision of a handling collection at Beeston Castle.  This will be used with educational and family groups, and aims to stimulate access, interest and enjoyment through the collection in English Heritage’s care.
