Regional Reviews
English Heritage is undertaking, either directly or through external commissioning, a series of regional reviews covering the different types of environmental evidence from archaeological sites and palaeoenvironmental deposits (Exploring our Past: Programme 8.2). The purpose of these reviews is to determine the extent of our knowledge of the past as gained from the study of biological remains, sediments and soils in England. They seek to identify gaps in our current understanding and highlight priorities and directions for future research at both a local, regional and national level. As such the reviews provide essential research in support of the development of regional and national research frameworks. Seven have been produced to date:
